Hi Folks, happy and sad that I have had taken this lot of time to fill
this empty space in my blog with some shit that kept us engaged all along these
days. For me, life took many a turn leaving me blind folded as to what and
where next in life is future waiting to award me with. Giving a damn at all
that and learning from quick mistakes, I am all set to start this life the way
it comes irrespective of the directions it takes me. The reason why I tell you
all this here is that, you need not have to waste time committing the same
mistakes as that of mine and that you can commit whole lot of other very many
mistakes. Take away: 1) Haste Makes Waste; 2) No planning and improper
execution is a big failure, 3) Start thinking in very many angles and
dimensions.
India
today repents for only two kinds of problems: 1) Indian Cricket team losing a
cricket match and 2) Bollywood celebrities breaking up, not well-versed at the
latter part of the previous statement, I chose to write something about the
former. Yes, this post is going to talk about somebody who breathes, eats, drinks
and lives cricket. I have grown up seeing this guy from the age I started
walking and I always get amused each and every time he comes out to bat. He is
one instrumental reason for which I chose to watch cricket. Looking back all
those cherish able memories/moments the master has given us, I always think what
could I do for him in return for all that he gave/giving me. The result of
which is this post, despite me not even having any chance of getting closer to all
those joyous moments he had given me.
I
highly suspect that it should have been Indians who would have come up with the
concept of cricket long back even before the British did. We would have
initially started playing and somebody would have hit it so hard miles apart, becoming
lazy to get ball back from there, we would have settled down for playing something at ground
level and thus Hockey would have got originated. Without inventing or
habituating to a game it is impossible for any country to go crazy for a game
and India made it possible. India is Cricket and Cricket is India. If Cricket
is considered something of this kind of an alarming importance, imagine how important
will the Man who taught us what cricket is be. Time to put this man on the spot
light and I safely bet you he is one of inevitable humans in the country widely
appreciated and apprehended for what he has done to the billion hearts across
the world.
ONE
MAN – MANY PERSPECTIVES:
BBC: "Beneath
the helmet, under that unruly curly hair, inside the cranium, there is
something we don't know, something beyond scientific measure. Something that
allows him to soar, to roam a territory of sport that, forget us, even those
who are gifted enough to play alongside him cannot even fathom. When he goes
out to bat, people switch on their television sets and switch off their lives-
BBC Sports, on Sachin Tendulkar."
Peter Roebuck:
"On a train from Shimla to Delhi, there was a halt at one of the stations.
The train stopped by for few minutes as usual. Sachin was nearing a century,
batting on 98. The passengers, railway officials, everyone on the train waited
for Sachin to complete the century. This genius can stop time in India!"
Sir Donald Bradman:
"I saw him (Sachin) playing on television and was struck by his technique,
so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel
that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at
him on television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two...his
compactness, technique, stroke production... it all seemed to gel"
Matthew Hayden:
"I have seen God, he bats at no. 4 for India"
Hashim Amla:
"Nothing bad can happen to us if we're on a plane in India with Sachin
Tendulkar on it"
Andy Flower: "There are
two kinds of batsmen in the world. One, Sachin Tendulkar. Two, all the
others"
Brian Lara:
"The only batsman I would love to see by paying for the tickets and
sitting in the stand just to watch him is none other than Sachin
Tendulkar" and "Sachin is a genius. I'm a mere mortal"
Mark Taylor:
"We did not lose to a team called India, we lost to a man called Sachin
(after the two famous innings in Sharjah in 1998)"
A placard at the Sydney Cricket Ground:
"Commit all your crimes when Sachin is batting. They will go unnoticed
because even the Lord is watching"
Dennis Lillee:
"If I've to bowl to Sachin, I'll bowl with my helmet on. He hits the ball
so hard"
Andrew Flintoff:
"When you bowl at him you are not just trying to get him out, you are
trying to impress him. 'I want him to walk off thinking 'that Flintoff, he's
all right isn't he? I feel privileged to have played against him"
Abdul Qadir:
"I was fielding in the covers when Tendulkar came out to bat in his debut
Test at Karachi. I still remember Waqar Younis was in peak form at that time.
Tendulkar tried to drive Waqar through the covers off his very first ball in
Test cricket but was beaten all ends up. But I walked to captain Imran Khan and
told him 'this kid looks very good' and Imran agreed with me."
FROM
WHERE HAS IT ALL COME?
Sachin
Ramesh Tendulkar born in Mumbai took up cricket at the age of eleven and made
his test debut against Pakistan while he was just sixteen years old. Initially,
Sachin wanted to become a pace bowler and he joined the MRF pace foundation and
later got rejected by Dennis Lille for various other reasons. He then took up
batting so serious under the able guidance of Ramakant Achrekar and emerged
affluently famous with the kind of skill and talent he portrayed. Having got
named by Ramesh after his famous music director Sachin Dev Burman, he was
considered a bully and used to pick fights up with new kids in the school. Shifting
his school, Sachin picked up the nuances of the game from his coach who later
went on to be called a “Child Prodigy”.
Tendulkar
would practice for hours together in the nets. If he became exhausted, Achrekar
would put a one-rupee coin on the top of the stumps, and the bowler who
dismissed Tendulkar would get the coin. If Tendulkar passed the whole session
without getting dismissed, the coach would give him the coin. Tendulkar now
considers the 13 coins he won then as some of his most prized possessions.
On
14 November 1987, Tendulkar was selected to represent Mumbai in the Ranji
Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class cricket tournament, for the
1987–88 season. However, he was not selected for the final eleven in any of the
matches, though he was often used as a substitute fielder. Tendulkar made his Test
debut against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989 aged just 16 years and 223
days. He made just 15 runs, being bowled by Waqar Younis, who also made his
debut in that match, but was noted for how he handled numerous blows to his
body at the hands of the Pakistani pace attack.
In the fourth and final Test in Sialkot, he was hit on the nose by a bouncer
bowled by Younis, but he declined medical assistance and continued to bat even
as he rushed blood from it.
Tendulkar's performance through the years 1994–1999 coincided with his
physical peak, in his early twenties. Tendulkar was told to open the batting at
Auckland against New Zealand in 1994. He went on to make 82 runs off 49 balls.
He scored his first ODI century on 9 September 1994 against Australia in Sri
Lanka at Colombo. It had taken him 79 ODIs to score a century. Tendulkar's two
tenures as captain of the Indian cricket team were not very successful. When
Tendulkar took over as captain in 1996, it was with huge hopes and
expectations. However, by 1997 the team was performing poorly.
2011 World Cup:
Tendulkar
was India's lead run-scorer for the tournament; only Tillakaratne Dilshan of
Sri Lanka scored more runs in the 2011 tournament. India defeated Sri Lanka in the final. Shortly
after the victory, Tendulkar commented that "Winning the World Cup is the proudest moment of my life.., I
couldn't control my tears of joy."
100th
International Century:
He
became the first person in history to achieve this feat. Incidentally, it was
Tendulkar's first ODI hundred against Bangladesh. He said "It's been a tough phase for me ... I
was not thinking about the milestone, the media started all this, wherever I
went, the restaurant, room service, and everyone was talking about the 100th
hundred. Nobody talked about my 99 hundreds. It became mentally tough for me
because nobody talked about my 99 hundreds."
In
nut-shell, he has not left any stone un-turned.
LET’S
DIVIDE GOD INTO PARTICLES AND SEE WHATS IN FOR US:
When you say somebody a “God”, we should know who God is and what
exactly makes somebody godly. According to very many monotheistic religions, “God
is a super human being or spirit worshipped as having power over the nature or
human fortunes”. Now that Sachin is considered a super human being on earth and
since because he has control on human natures and emotions, he is thoroughly
deserved to be called the “GOD”. He had given us numerous memories to cherish,
react and go back to do a reality check as to determine how well have we lived
those moments. He made us happy, ecstatic, sad, jealous, proud and confident that
is a rare piece of asset that anybody could afford to give us.
In
a country like India where Cricket beats even the national game at a bigger
margin ever, cricketing stars are undoubtedly the “Heroes of the nation”.
Re-considering this very fact, by this time now there should at least be
hundred cricketers easily whom the nation should celebrate, but that’s not the
plight in here. So there is something more than just cricket that makes the
mark as thee hero.
SUPERHERO
MADE – WHY & HOW:
TALENT
& SKILL SET:
If Sachin is the word that comes to your mind first, Talent could be
word following it. Sachin and Talent are inseparable as one cannot play those
straight drives, cover drives, pull, hook shots, square drives, paddle sweep
and late cuts with so much ease and elegance. Sachin could be one man who makes
us look those shots so easy which actually involves greater technical
difficulties. He is undoubtedly loaded with enormous talent for he is god’s own
child. Those front foot punches, those hooks, those pull shots, those chips above
the fielders head are an absolute delight to watch. The moment Sachin enters
the ground, the crowd goes frenzy and it’s because of what Sachin is and not
because of whom Sachin is. Only his ardent practice and hard work has made him
of what he is now. He is a warehouse of pure skill and talent.
SHOT
SELECTIONS:
If Indian cricket team bats, the first
question obviously would be something relating to Sachin. If Sachin is in the
crease anybody would want to watch the game irrespective of what they do/work. His
shot selections and the way he executes them to perfection is a sheer delight
to watch. Your mind melts for his straight drive, eyes crave for his square
cuts, heart beats faster for his late cuts, body resonates for his pull and
finally soul longs for his upper cut. He just blends your soul to oneness with
his shots. The kind of concentration he puts forth for executing each and every
kind of shot is mammoth. Anybody can choose a shot and you really need somebody
like Sachin to execute it to perfection making it look sheer classy and pacey. Sachin
re-defined the art of elegant and subtle batting whilst big-hitters got for
themselves immense credits. Sachin made everybody believe that even ground hit
shots are worth an entertaining business without choosing to go on air very
often. Elegant, stylish, classy, professional and anything you call his shots
they are one!
ATTITUDE:
Sachin
has not given us with only the game that he carried forward for the past 24
years, but also the pride, humility, character, behaviour, professionalism and
well-being as a human being. Sachin was not just known for his game and skill
but also for his humility. If it could be one word that takes for somebody to
become a Sachin, it is “HUMILITY”. The kind of humility her has put forth and
the dignity he bears along-side is incomparable. We have not seen Sachin so
frustrated or losing his temper in spite of very many poor judgements from
umpire’s end. He always had kept his cool and have had shown his aggression in
the game and not on people. He is one major factor which unites the team,
talking and discussing with the team as to what needs to be and need not have
to be done. His enormous experience is a sheer learning for all upcoming youngsters
who are and are not a part of the team. In nutshell, all that you could learn
from Sachin is, “Have an Attitude and know how to Use it”. The last few days
has taught us so much! Patience, Respect, Perseverance, Grounded
and Focus
THE
SACHIN FACTOR:
Apart
from all these, he possesses some magical element in his genes that builds in
us a strong sense of affinity for him. The cute smile that bridges mile gap
apart, that magical bent cap, those thick leg pads and finally the way he
adjusts his abdomen guard are delightful sight to watch. One special thing
about Sachin is that he deals anything with ease and cool. We have never had
seen him shout on anybody even if the mistake were theirs and he always had
given enough space in the team to play their natural game. He is such a big
inspiration to all youngsters and he doesn’t just teach you only the game but a
way of living. Technically he stands out as the best because of his ability to
increase the pace at will. In terms of technique and compactness, Tendulkar is
the best. And finally, “If Sachin plays
well.. India sleeps well”
TO
SACHIN, FOR SACHIN:
Here
below are some slogans that explicitly tell everybody how much this gentleman
means to a majority of the population.
“Sachin
is the Sun and Cricket revolves around him”
“Cricket
is our Religion and Sachin is our God”
“Divided
by Religions, United by Sachin”
“15/11/89
where it had begun 18/11/13 where it had ended. Thank you Sachin for all those
wonderful memories”
“Sachin
Tendulkar - The man who made us all believe MRF was a bat company for many years”
“Paaji
u r my hero..My rode model...Inspired me in many ways...Thanks a lot for
everything...BILLION memories..”
“And
when sachin came back to kiss the pitch. I cried, He cried, India cried”
“Secret
of Sachin Tendulkar's Success: Sachin's mother name is RAJNI. N his coach's
name is ramaKANT. Do I need to say more.”
“A
guy should be a proud son of his parents and a proud husband of his wife.
Sachin sets an example.!”
